The 30 year-old who already has underwear and shirts as part of his CR7 brand launched his own shoes, priced between €100 to€550; an action which infuriated sponsors, NIKE
The company decided to give the current World Footballer of the Year, the option of calling the shoes back or lose the lucrative contract.
A smart businessman that he is, Ronaldo immediately recalls the shoes and to his benefit, keeps the NIKE deal.
'Ronaldo launched the range of footwear at Milan Shoe Fair last week, with boots, loafers and dress shoes all included in the collection. Prices for the items ranged from €100 to €550.
'However, Nike were not happy and offered the 30-year-old an ultimatum: Drop the footwear range or lose your contract with Nike.'
No exact worth is placed on Ronaldo’s deal with NIKE but some sources claim that it is worth €9m while Daily Mail puts it at£14.1m.
