9-year-old Nigerian girl tests negative in India The unidentified girl was admitted at the Ebola isolation unit of the Ernakulam General Hospital in Kerala after arriving at the arrived at the Cochin International Airport with her parents on Monday, February 2.

The unidentified girl was admitted at the Ebola isolation unit of the Ernakulam General Hospital in Kerala after arriving at the arrived at the Cochin International Airport with her parents on Monday, February 2.
A sample of her blood was sent to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in New Delhi where it was found to be negative for Ebola.
"The girl did not have any immediate ailments. She came along with her mother for the latter’s treatment in a private hospital. The girl had some problems. Hence, they decided that she would also be consulted here. That’s why they took the girl along with her mother,” Amar Fettle, the state nodal officer for Ebola said.
The child and her father had accompanied her mother to India for an orthopaedic procedure.
Nigeria was one of the countries affected by the disease before it was declared Ebola-free on October 20, 2014.
